About the Event
Chloe Matharu is a female, Award-winning, Singer Songwriter and Harpist. She is Scottish Indian with cultural roots in the Indian Punjab, Scotland and Wales and draws from her experience as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy and the natural world as experienced at sea. She was recently featured on Radio 4 with BBC Woman's Hour and on TV for BBC Scotland News with her single, The Silkie of Sule Skerry. She is about to release a second single this year, Towards the Hebrides, on the 8th of September and has been invited onto BBC Radio Scotland's The Afternoon Show to announce its release. This original song is about travelling to the space and light of the Hebrides and was recorded by Bafta Award Winner and Producer, Lomond Campbell, at his studio in the Highlands. A self-recorded and edited film documenting Chloe's journey from the Cambridge Folk Festival to the EDF Festival on the Isle of Benbecula will be released in tandem.
Chloe will be supported by the Harps North West Performance Group.
